The cross is more than just a theory; it demands application. Do not believe that telling ourselves to be humble always is the path to becoming humble. Even if it takes twenty strikes, we must be struck repeatedly until we submit and are no longer proud. Never presume that this results from merely adhering to particular teachings. No, it's because God's dealings have broken our pride.
Through the process of the crucifixion, we will discover how to rely on God's grace rather than our minds and strength. Whether or not we know of it, He is working on a reliable, long-lasting project. The outside man now waits meekly, fearfully, and trembling before God, whereas before, the outward and the internal man were unwilling to cooperate.
The Lord needs to chastise each and every one of us. When we look back on our past, we cannot help but recognize God's intervention in overcoming our outward man's independence, vanity, and selfishness. We have come to understand the significance of the events that have occurred to us.
We are now beginning to understand that all that seem like disadvantages in the past were actually working in our favour. Rom 8:28 is now a reality in our experience.
